Question
Define the problem, limits and opportunity.
NOVAMATRA exists to connect ideas, research and industrial expertise. We bring hypotheses from different sectors together to explore technologies that have not yet been demonstrated — and discover through engineering what can become real.
One company masters a technology. Another understands a different constraint. NOVAMATRA seeks to turn that intersection into a testable hypothesis — advancing people's energy, physical and functional autonomy.
Real problems. Testable hypotheses. A first experiment designed together.
We are an independent initiative based in Leiria, Portugal, with the ambition to develop new technologies by connecting disciplines, technical teams and experienced manufacturers. We do not claim that the impossible is possible; we investigate what still needs to be tested.
Difficult questions without predetermined answers.
Engineering, materials, electronics, energy, biomechanics and industry.
Calculations, prototypes, measurements and independent comparisons.
Manufacturers understand materials that researchers may never have examined. Biomechanics specialists reveal constraints energy engineers might overlook. NOVAMATRA seeks to connect those perspectives through testable hypotheses, while keeping each programme distinct.
Every programme has its own core question, requirements, milestones and evidence standards. Cross-programme collaboration is scientific — not a promise of a combined product.
Research modular energy conversion from human motion, wind, water and external sources — without claiming energy multiplication.
Explore programme ↗Explore biomechanical assistance, comfort and adaptive structures for human motion.
Explore programme ↗Explore a modular emergency platform for power, local communications and essential functions under challenging conditions.
Explore programme ↗Research load redistribution, support mechanisms and load control for physical applications.
Explore programme ↗Investigate mechanical mobility and rehabilitation assistance principles, clearly separating research from a medical device.
Explore programme ↗Conceptual visualisation. Does not represent existing facilities or prototypes.
Define the problem, limits and opportunity.
Model forces, energy, materials, safety and constraints.
Qualify components and prepare repeatable experiments.
Build a controlled system, not just an image.
Compare performance, uncertainty and failures against a baseline.
Improve, reject or proceed based on evidence.
Actual status: exploratory research; no physically validated energy prototypes, no formally confirmed industrial partners and no secured financial support.
